What I love about this hotel

It’s hard to pick one thing out as actually it’s everything!

You will adore the personal service and attention to detail that makes this a world class hotel and the amount of repeat guests is testimony to that fact. The hotel is light and airy yet with a rich tableau of colours. Beautiful and stunning flower arrangements and tropical plants are displayed in abundance throughout the entire property.  The quality and variety of the food is synonymous with a truly great hotel – from a foodie’s point of view a real delight.

Restaurants

The hotel boasts five restaurants of fantastic quality. The décor in the main restaurant Les Faunes is opulent and elegant, reminiscent of a Russian Czars palace! The less formal Italian restaurant, Villa Cipriani offers a delicious menu utilising both local seasonal and imported produce.

Afternoon tea at Reids is a real must! Amazingly the hotel boasts a choice of 24 teas and infusions as well as delicate finger sandwiches and an array of pastries and scones which are all home baked and served on the tea terrace.

Rooms

The rooms are all exquisitely and elegantly designed with the highest quality furnishings and fabrics. The sea views are awesome and inspiring.  As you would expect of a hotel of this standard, fluffy towels and a superb array of toiletries are provided.  All rooms have balcony  or terrace and views of the ocean or Funchal harbour, and are equipped with TV, video, minibar and safety deposit box.

Leisure Facilities

There are no less than 3 swimming pools at Reids, 2 seawater and one freshwater pool.  One of the seawater and the other freshwater pool is heated.  One of the pools is located at sea level and has direct access right through to the sea.

For the sports enthusiast amongst you there are a whole host of activities to keep you busy! During summer season Reids offers complimentary use of windsurfing equipment. Whilst on dry land there are tennis courts with a prebookable coach to enhance your skill,  a billiards room plus a fitness room and sauna all at your disposal.  Fishing and Levada walks are very popular in Madeira and can be booked from the hotel.

The fitness room itself offers no less than a 500 square foot gym with cardiovascular equipment, free weights and a steam room in addition to the sauna.  Gazing out over the ocean whilst at the same time keeping to your workout regime must be an inspiring way to lose the pounds you will be tempted to put on by indulging in the gastronomic delights Reids has to offer!

If all that working out in the gym hasn't tired you out then maybe you could learn some new moves from the dancing classes which take place at the hotel or enjoy some fun at the aqua aerobics classes.

After all that exercise you'll be needing to take part in some wine tasting sessions to quench your thirst. Or you could snuggle up with a good book in the library, watch a video in the salon, play a game of billiards, or maybe opt for some retail therapy in the well stocked boutique which will tempt you with exquisite Madeira embroidery and beautiful locally hand painted tiles as well as a whole host of other must-have souvenirs.

Golfers are also well catered for in Madeira and there are two excellent golf courses nearby and the concierge will be delighted to assist you in the prebooking of tee times etc.

The Spa uses top quality products and internationally recognised products such as La Prairie, La Stone and Ytsara.  There is a even a special indoor/outdoor couples treatment area which has its own whirlpool and of course there are separate changing areas for ladies and gentleman each with their own dry sauna and steam room areas.  Spa packages are especially popular at Reids and can be tailored to your requirements or bought as a programme of treatments even for mother and child.
